The Homeless Epidemic

The homelessness epidemic is far-reaching, touching the most vulnerable members of our community. Homelessness not only presents the life-threatening challenge of living without a home but also creates barriers to employment and puts individuals of all ages at a greater risk of health-related issues.

According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, 582,462 people experienced homelessness in 2022.

22% percent of those individuals were classified as chronically homelessness.

Several factors trigger homelessness, including:

  • Loss of Job (35%)

  • Expenses Higher Than Earnings (15%)

  • Evicted by Family Member (13%)

  • Abuse at Home (11%)

  • Incarceration (11%)

  • Sick, Disability, Mental Health (10%)

  • Change in Family Status (10%)

  • Drugs/Alcohol (9%)
