As a non-profit human services agency, we rely on the generous support of our community to fulfill our mission. Many people provide support through contributions of time, money, and items from our wish list to help our neighbors in need.
Your dedicated support is needed to prevent the children we see today from becoming the adults that we serve tomorrow. HATAS is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and your donation is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

We could not do what we do without the help of dedicated volunteers. Short- and long-term opportunities are available. Here are some examples of volunteer assignments:
We need volunteers to pack the backpacks full of food as part of the Albany Feed and Read Program.
In groups of 6 to 8 people, volunteers work in an assembly line fashion to pack all the bags. The process takes no more than 2 hours. Volunteers must be able to lift upwards of 20 lbs and stand for extended periods.
We are flexible with packing times once groups of volunteers are formed. First time volunteers will receive a briefing and sign the volunteer waiver prior to their first packing session.
We need volunteers to deliver the backpacks full of food to local schools as part of the Albany Feed and Read Program. Volunteers arrive at the HATAS warehouse on Friday morning to load packs filled with food into their personal vehicles.
Pick up time from the warehouse is flexible, but all backpacks must be delivered before noon. Delivery of 30 backpacks to one school takes no more than an hour. Volunteers must submit a copy of their driver’s license, have valid insurance, be 21+ years of age, have a clean DMV record, and must provide their own vehicle.
First-time volunteers will receive a briefing and sign the volunteer waiver prior to their first driving shift.
We need volunteers to assist the furniture bank staff with daily tasks such as maintaining the warehouse and pick-up and delivery of furniture.
We need volunteers to greet and direct clients and visitors, direct telephone calls, and collect client paperwork. Training is provided.
We need volunteers to help us spread the word about our work and impact.
We need volunteers to work with executive staff and agency committees on fundraising events and initiatives.
We need volunteers to provide feedback, suggestions, and support that helps people get and keep jobs and housing.
We need volunteers to assist with general office and administrative duties.
We need volunteers to facilitate skill or recreational workshops at our office. Workshops can be related to your professional or personal skills and interests.
We need volunteers who can help with building maintenance and repair.
