As a non-profit human services agency, we rely on the generous support of our community to fulfill our mission. Many people provide support through contributions of time, money, and items from our wish list to help our neighbors in need.
Your dedicated support is needed to prevent the children we see today from becoming the adults that we serve tomorrow. HATAS is a 501(c)(3) charity and your donation is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

We could not do what we do without the help of dedicated volunteers. Short- and long-term opportunities are available. Here are some examples of volunteer assignments:
Volunteer Backpack Packer
We need volunteers to pack the backpacks full of food as part of the Albany Feed and Read Program.
In groups of 6 to 8 people, volunteers work in an assembly line fashion to pack all the bags. The process takes no more than 2 hours. Volunteers must be able to list upwards of 20lbs and stand for extended periods of time.
We are flexible with packing times once groups of volunteers are formed. First time volunteers will receive a briefing and sign the volunteer waiver prior to their first packing session.
Volunteer Delivery Driver
We need volunteers to deliver the packed backpacks full of food to local schools as part of the Albany Feed and Read Program. Volunteers arrive at the HATAS warehouse on Friday morning to load packs filled with food into their personal vehicle.
Pick up time from the warehouse is flexible but all backpacks must be delivered before noon. A delivery of 30 backpacks to one school takes no more than an hour. Volunteers must submit a copy of their driver’s license, have valid insurance, be 21+ years of age, have a clear DMV record, and must provide their own vehicle.
First time volunteers will receive a briefing and sign the volunteer waiver prior to their first driving shift. .
