Our Story

Our Mission

To provide immediate relief and long term solutions for the most vulnerable members of our community by preventing, combating, and reducing homelessness within the Capital Region.

Our History

HATAS was formed in 1927 with the mission to end homelessness within Albany County and the Capital Region.

We provide relief by meeting the immediate need for shelter, food and clothing in addition to addressing the long-term need for affordable housing and sustainable employment. Over the course of 2015, HATAS assisted over 12,500 persons seeking assistance within the Capital Region.

We employ a holistic wrap-around approach in caring for our neighbors in need and we serve all persons with dignity and respect. HATAS works in concert with our partners in service to eliminate redundancies and to increase the quality and variety of services available within the Capital Region.

Our Supporters

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we rely on the generous support of our community to fulfill our mission.

Many people provide support through contributions of time, money, and items from our wish list. We couldn't do what we do without this support, and for that, we thank you.

If you are not yet a HATAS supporter, there has never been a better time to get involved. We have made so much progress so far, but there is still a long road ahead. Be part of something bigger than yourself and experience the rewards of helping your neighbors and your community.

We thank you for your contribution and your hard work!

Together we have built something amazing and it has been truly wonderful to share our success that has only been made possible by your contributions of time and talent.
